Day One
Internet will definitely be spotty at best until next sunday when I finally get to move into my dorm/permanent London living space. So in this short time here are a few notes:
- Driving on the left side of the road is confusing as hell. Almost got hit by a double-decker bus today because I looked left instead of right crossing the street. And didn’t even notice I almost got hit until someone pointed it out afterwards.
- Visited the British Library which is awesome. Highlights included John Lennon’s original handwritten lyrics for help!, hard day’s night (on the back of a birthday card for Julian), and ticket to ride, some Shakespeare manuscripts, a Jesus crossword puzzle, and last but not least the magna carta.
- Jet lag really sucks.
- “Banger Bros.” was probably the best way to kick off eating British food. I don’t think it will ever stop being funny.
- I enjoy British accents way too much to be a functioning human being here.
So overall, things are good. Got a bunch of Northwestern people here similarly confused, and all my international student compatriats seem cool. 2 more days of orientation left then a 3 day homestay then moving in then more orientation then maybe class.
